Eric Millis, a 25-year state employee, has been named director for the Utah Division of Water Resources. Millis, who has been a deputy director with the state agency since 2006, will replace retiring director Dennis Strong at the end of the month.

"We were fortunate to find the perfect person for the job, right here at DNR," Mike Styler, executive director of the Department of Natural Resources, said in a release.  "There were several very good candidates, but Eric has the best combination of skills as we face pressing water issues in the future."

Millis will oversee a full- time staff of more than 40 at the agency charged with planning, conserving, developing and protecting state water resources. Millis has been involved with planning efforts on the Lake Powell Pipeline and Bear River Development projects.
