Mechanical problems with at least two TRAX light rail trains delayed Salt Lake Valley commuters more than 20 minutes early Friday morning.

The problems reportedly began with a southbound train about 5:45 a.m. at the 9th South stop. Shortly thereafter, a northbound train also had problems. Utah Transit Authority officials said both northbound and southbound trains experienced delays that lasted in some cases up to 25 minutes.

UTA said almost all routes were back on schedule by 8 a.m. as the troubled trains were replaced and additional trains and cars were put into service.
