BYU women's volleyball team sweeps San Francisco

BYU junior Tambre Haddock had 16 kills and 15 digs for her 12th double-double of the season as the No. 24 women's volleyball team swept San Francisco (29-27, 25-15, 25-15) on Saturday in Provo.

Alexa Gray had 15 kills and Kathryn LeCheminant added six total blocks for the Cougars, who are now 14-3 overall, and 7-0 in West Coast Conference play.

Utah State 3, Wyoming 1 • The Aggies picked up a four-set win Saturday night in Laramie, Wyo. — 25-15, 25-23, 19-25, 26-25. USU's Paige Neves had 42 assists, and three players hit double-digits in kills: Tumua Etimani and Elle Brainard had 12 each, and Rachel Orr had 11 as the Aggies moved to 11-7 overall and 4-3 in the Mountain West.

Montana State 3, Southern Utah 1 • The Bobcats beat the Thunderbirds in four sets — 21-25, 25-20, 30-28, 26-24 — on Saturday night in Bozeman, Mont. Alissa Youart had 11 kills for SUU, and Taylor Heine added 10.

SLCC 3, CNCC 0 • No. 6 Salt Lake Community College (17-5, 5-0 SWAC) won its fifth straight match Saturday, sweeping Colorado Northwestern Community College (25-8, 25-8, 25-16) in Salt Lake City. SLCC is still the only team without a loss in Scenic West Athletic Conference play. Outside hitter Bailee Kendall had 14 kills and a .722 hitting percentage for the Bruins, who will host No. 5 Western Wyoming Community College on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Azusa Pacific 3, Dixie State 0 • The Red Storm lost to the Cougars for the second time this week on Saturday in a 25-19, 25-21, 25-20 sweep in Azusa, Calif. Nicole Koehler had 10 kills to lead Dixie State (9-7, 6-4).

Women's soccer

Santa Clara 2, BYU 1 • The No. 18 Broncos (8-3-1) scored an 83rd-minute goal Saturday in Santa Clara, Calif., to break the tie against the No. 22 Cougars (7-4-1), who suffered their first West Coast Conference loss since Oct. 29, 2011. BYU struck first 11 minutes in when Jaiden Thornock crossed a pass to Colette Jepson Smith, who beat the defense to the ball and fired a shot past the keeper for a 1-0 lead.

Weber State 1, Idaho State 1 (2OT) • The Wildcats fought to a double-overtime draw against the Big Sky rival Bengals on Saturday night in Pocatello, Idaho. Chansi Crompton's second goal of the season, in the 20th minute, gave Weber State (7-3-3) a 1-0 lead.

Dixie State 2, Holy Names 1 • The Red Storm, trailing 1-0 at halftime in Oakland, Calif., got second-half goals from Jennifer Mason and Ashley Wade to move to 5-2-1 in Pacific West play.

Men's soccer

Holy Names 3, Dixie State 1 • Nadav Elimelech scored his first career goal in the second minute, but it was all the Red Storm could manage in a loss in Oakland, Calif.

Women's tennis

At the ITA Mountain Regional Championships on Saturday in Las Vegas, the Utah doubles team of Tereza Bekerova and Paige Miles advanced to Sunday's semifinals with an 8-5 win over Colorado's Winde Janssens and Nira Ormeno.
