Two men were wounded overnight Sunday, one critically, after they were shot while sitting in their vehicle in Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City police said the men were sitting inside their car at 405 N. Pamela Way (1820 West) about 12:25 a.m. when two unidentified men pulled up in a dark green, boxy-type, older SUV, possibly a Subaru.

The four men exchanged words before the men inside the SUV opened fire, shooting the men inside the car.

A 19-year-old victim was listed in extremely critical condition Sunday while a 20-year-old victim was recovering and expected to survive at a second area hospital, police said.

Gang and homicide detectives continue to investigate, though police said they're not sure the shooting was gang-related.

Detectives said they were not sure what prompted the men to open fire.

Anyone with information was asked to call Salt Lake City police at 801-799-3000.
