A toddler remained in critical condition on Monday after being found unconscious in a Morgan County irrigation ditch.

Morgan County Chief Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Edwards said he understood the 1-year-old had been put into a medically induced coma in hopes of aiding his recovery.

The child wandered away from his family's home on Stoddard Lane in Weber Canyon about 11:30 a.m. Saturday and was found soon thereafter after in the ditch.

A helicopter flew the baby to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.

The incident remained under investigation.
