In joining the Pac-12, the University of Utah not only joined a powerful sports conference but also a scientific powerhouse.

In the 2013 list of recipients of shared Nobel Prizes in medicine, chemistry and physics, the score is Pac-12 4 (Stanford 2, Cal 1, USC 1), Ivy League 2 (Harvard and Yale one each), rest of the world 2 (England and Belgium, one each).
