Letter: Lee loves Constitution, but doesn't hesitate to trash it

For the handful of letter writers who are still proclaiming Mike Lee a hero and defender of the Constitution, I have a question: Exactly where in the Constitution does it say that if a minority faction in Congress doesn't have the votes to advance its agenda democratically through the normal constitutional process, it may ignore the rest of the Constitution and use extortion to get its way by threatening to crash the country financially?

The Constitution can no more be "saved" by circumventing it than the economy can be saved by robbing banks and shooting tellers.

The only good thing to come of the whole shutdown debacle is that many Americans are now seeing the tea party for what it really is: a group of people who loudly proclaim their love for the Constitution, but who are the first to trash it the moment it gets in the way of their own agenda.
