The Sisters of St. Benedict may be leaving Utah, but their legacy will live on in memories and marble.
On Thursday, a monument honoring the Benedictine nuns for their nearly seven decades of service in and around Ogden was unveiled just outside Ogden Regional Medical Center, where they performed much of their charity work.
The monument was a surprise tribute to the five remaining nuns Danile Knight, Luke Hoschette, Stephanie Mongeon, Mary Zenzen and Jean Gibson who are returning to their home monastery in Minnesota. It also pays homage to the previous Benedictine nuns who labored in northern Utah.
