Wednesday, Nov. 13, is the last day to enter The Salt Lake Tribune's annual Jell-O Haiku contest.

Readers of all ages are encouraged to write a silly, funny, even sarcastic haiku about their favorite jiggly creation. There are categories for adults as well as secondary-school and elementary-age children. Deadline to enter is 5 p.m.

A haiku, of course, is an easy three-line poem. The first line has five syllables. The second line has seven syllables, and the third reverts to five syllables.

To enter, visit http://extras.sltrib.com/jellohaiku/ and write your poem in the form provided. Please include your first and last name, as well as your telephone number and an email address, so we can contact you if you win. (Phone numbers and emails won't be published.)

Because of the sheer number of haikus — last year we received more than 800 — we are asking contestants to enter only one poem in the contest.

Our favorites haikus will be published on Wednesday, Nov. 27. Cookbooks and other food swag will be awarded for the best submissions in each category.
