A 1-year-old boy rescued from a Morgan County irrigation ditch last weekend has been upgraded to serious condition Friday after being successfully weaned from life support.

Morgan County Sheriff's Deputy Tyler Grose said he understood the child was expected to fully recover, and that brain scans reportedly showed there was no long-term damage.

The child was flown to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City Saturday afternoon. He had wandered away from his family's home on Stoddard Lane in Weber Canyon about 11:30 a.m. Saturday and then found a short time later in the ditch, which was partially filled with water.
