The eighth annual Utah Procurement Symposium designed to help companies learn how to procure military and government contracts is scheduled Tuesday from 7:15 a.m. until 3 p.m. At the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy.

The Procurement Technical Assistant Center (PTAC), part of the Governor's Office of Economic Development, is sponsoring the event, designed to help companies wade through the sometimes complicated process of selling to federal, state and local governments.

Organizers say that companies that sell products or services to the general population can also likely find a market in the government.

"For seven years, the PTAC Procurement Symposium has been attended by more than 500 people per year seeking opportunities to learn more about government contracting," said Fred Lange, PTAC director. "Not only do these people gain a greater understanding of the contracting process but also walk away with invaluable networking opportunities."

Those who want to register can do so online at www.business.utah.gov/PTAC. The cost is $50 per person for individuals and $40 per person for persons from the same company. The fee includes a continental breakfast, lunch and all the training sessions, exhibits and materials.
