Ogden firefighters' quick response has been credited with saving most of a large commercial building early Tuesday morning.
Deputy Fire Chief Eric Bauman said the alarm came in at 2:23 a.m. Tuesday, and when crews arrived at 1225 Wall Avenue they found smoke and flames billowing from the building's north loading dock.
"The material burning consisted of a large amount of books, recycled cardboard and paper. The fire was extinguished rapidly and was confined to the loading dock and a small portion of the building adjacent to the dock," Bauman stated.
Firefighters were on the scene throughout the night securing the scene, removing debris and checking for and dousing hot spots.
Bauman said the cause of the fire was under investigation.
No one was inside the structure at the time of the blaze, and no injuries were reported.
Damages were estimated at $5,000.
