Police say a three-week Davis County undercover drug investigation has yielded one arrest and more may be coming.
Lt. Mark Chatlin said on Wednesday that undercover operatives had already made several purchases of marijuana from the suspect, a 35-year-old Hyrum man throughout this month. Then, on Monday evening, Layton police pulled over the suspect for speeding on Interstate 15 near Hill Field Road.
A search uncovered 10 pounds of marijuana stuffed in a duffel bag in the trunk of his rental car. Police estimated the weed had a street value exceeding $50,000.
The pot is believed to have originated in California, but police citing the ongoing nature of the case declined to release further details.
The suspect was booked into Davis County Jail on suspicion of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Bail was set at $25,000.
