A pair of accidents on Interstate 15 clogged rush hour traffic in Murray Friday afternoon.

The first accident happened in the southbound lanes near 5600 South in Murray about 4 p.m. Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Jalaine Hawkes said it involved an SUV and a car.

The second accident happened just up the highway, near 5300 South, about 4:15 p.m. Hawkes said it involved two cars.

Both accidents produced only minor injuries, but Hawkes said authorities closed lanes to make way for medical vehicles.

The accidents and lane closures caused traffic congestion in the southbound lanes nearly to 900 South in Salt Lake City. By 4:30 p.m., Hawkes said the accidents were being cleared and the lane closures were nearly over.
