Clearfield police on Tuesday asked for the public's help in bringing to justice a suspect in a sexual assault.

Clearfield Assistant Police Chief Mike Stenquist said the incident occurred Oct. 12 when a 39-year-old woman was approached at a Layton bus stop by a man who offered to give her a ride. The woman reluctantly accepted.

The suspect drove first to a convenience store and then into the parking lot of a local apartment complex, where he made sexual advances. The woman struggled but was assaulted before she was able to break loose and escape the man's older model silver Dodge Durango SUV.

The victim was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released.

Surveillance video footage obtained from the convenience store shows the suspect to be a Latino male in his late-20s to late-30s, about 5-foot-10, 180 pounds and with a partially shaved head and receding hairline. He was wearing a blue and gray shirt.

Clearfield police department anyone with information on this case to call detectives at 801-525-2840 or 801-525-2806.
