A Millcreek man suffering from dementia who walked away from a Millcreek nursing home was found safe at a Taylorsville McDonald's restaurant late Wednesday morning.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said 49-year-old Lei Finau, who had been the subject of an endangered missing person alert, was spotted inside the restaurant at 4200 S. Redwood about 9 a.m. by a citizen.

UPD officers were dispatched, determined Finau was not injured and took him into protective custody until he could be returned to the Willow Wood Care Center, 1205 E. Bonner Way (4725 South).

He had gone missing from the facility about 2 a.m. Wednesday.

This is not the first time Finau has gone missing, Hoyal said, noting that on previous occasions the man also was found in various Salt Lake County businesses.
