Letter: Tired of liberals screaming 'racist'; loves Ben Carson

The left scream "racist" ("Is racism behind hatred of President Obama?" Forum, Oct. 29). I would vote for Ben Carson without hesitation ("Pitts: Ben Carson sinks to a new low," Opinion, Oct. 16).

I could care less what heritage Obama has; there are many of us who do not like his policies. We want fiscal responsibility and smaller government. We want freedom and individual responsibility, not handouts and dependency.

We believe in hard work to get what we want and want others to do the same. These days there are excuses for everyone who is on welfare, SNAP and the rest. If someone needs a hand up, fine, but those who want a handout forever, no.

Able-bodied people should work for what they get, our tax dollars that we worked for should not be used to support the lazy, the drug-addicted, the people who made bad choices. Stop and think before you have children out of wedlock, before you quit that job, before you drop out of high school; your bad choices are not our responsibility.

That does not make us racist. Your attacks are wearing thin. Lloyd Creech is Canadian to boot, but almost daily there is someone among the readers who makes the same claim in the Trib.
