Thursday on TV: Good grief! The "Great Pumpkin" is back!

Forty-seven years after it premiered, It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (7 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4) remains the ultimate Halloween TV special.

It's funny. It's charming. And,weirdly enough, familiarity doesn't make it less fun to watch.

ABC fills out the hour with the much-lesser 1972 cartoon "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown," but it's the "Great Pumpkin" that really counts.
