Here we go again! More nanny state antics from Salt Lake City. The city is proposing to severely limit on-street parking when it snows. ('Snow season parking restrictions," Tribune, Oct 29) Really? You'd think the mayor's team of eco-groovy advisers would have noticed the contradiction here.

If we're all supposed to be excited about buses and bikes and livable streets and such, then what's wrong with leaving your car in place when it snows? The eco-groovy team wants narrower streets, if only because cars go slower. Well, snow narrows streets and cars go slower. What's wrong with that?

Cars left parked mean people are more likely to take the bus and pollute less. Isn't that what they want? And, if we don't have off-street parking, then are we all supposed to drive around until it stops snowing? Not so eco-groovy.

Goofy proposal.
