State colleges: Alexa Gray leads No. 21 BYU over Loyola Marymount in women's volleyball

Provo • Alexa Gray smashed 22 kills, and Camry Godfrey tallied 45 assists and 10 digs, to help No. 21 BYU outlast Loyola Marymount 30-28, 29-27, 25-21 in West Coast Conference women's volleyball Thursday night at Smith Fieldhouse.

Tambre Haddock had 16 kills and eight digs, and Ciara Parker tallied a team-high 19 digs for the Cougars (18-4, 11-1).

"I really felt like that was a five-set match," BYU coach Shawn Olmstead said. "It took a lot out on us and it just felt draining and exhausting."

Utah State 3, Wyoming 0 • Tumua Etimani had 15 kills and 15 digs to lead the Aggies over the Cowboys 25-22, 25-20, 29-31, 25-20 in Mountain West play.

Rachel Orr had 12 kills and Elle Brainard added 11 for Utah State (15-7, 8-3), which has won six straight and hosts No. 9-ranked Colorado State at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
