A Centerville therapist arrested for allegedly sodomizing a teenage girl admitted Friday to an inappropriate sexual relationship and surrendered his professional license.

Scott Andrew Peterson, 36, of Bountiful, admitted he had a sexual relationship with an adolescent client "in about June and July 2013," according to court documents filed Friday. The documents also say Peterson "desires to surrender" his license to practice as a social worker.

Peterson, a licensed clinical social worker until Friday, owned Therapy on the Fly in Centerville before it closed in August, police said. Police arrested him on suspicion of forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony, and two counts of forcible sexual abuse.

The teenage girl in the case was receiving therapy from Peterson, and their "sexual relations" occurred at the Main Street business, according to police.

Police said the girl confided in her bishop about the alleged abuse, and the legal department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints notified police.

The court documents filed Friday include an admission by Peterson that his conduct was unprofessional. He also agreed not to apply for a new licenses for at least five years.

Peterson has been booked into Davis County Jail. As of Friday, prosecutors had not filed charges against Peterson.
