Stockton, Calif. • The Utah Grizzlies surrendered a trio of power-play goals Friday night including two in the decisive third period as they fell 3-2 against the Stockton Thunder.
Utah had a streak of 14 straight penalty kills snapped when Stockton scored 9:36 into the first period.
The Grizzlies didn't trail for long, though, as David Vallorani answered on the following shift, putting home a rebound shot at the 10:33 mark.
And a mere 1:23 after that, Utah gained the advantage, with Berkley Scott scoring off assists by Adam Pineault and Vallorini.
The lead would hold for the next 28:51, when Stockton tallied just 28 seconds into the third period. Another power-play score less than seven minutes later proved to be the game-winner, as the Grizzlies could not capitalize on their own power-play chances in the game's final minutes.
Ben Meisner stopped 28 of 31 shots in his first start in goal for Utah this season.
