After House investigators on Nov. 1 alleged in a court filing that massive amounts of Swallow's electronic data is missing, attention turned to answering two questions: What did Swallow know about any federal investigation and when did he know it?

Steven Reich, special counsel to the bipartisan legislative committee investigating Swallow, on Wednesday said the scope of the "data loss is not anything I have seen before and something I find deeply worrisome."

A day later, Swallow alleged the investigation of which Reich is part has turned into a politicized crusade to find any hint of wrongdoing so it doesn't appear to be wasting taxpayer money.

On Friday, House investigators issued nine new subpoenas in the Swallow probe.
