A police chase ended early Friday after a fleeing driver crashed a stolen car into a trailer and then was taken down by a police dog in west Salt Lake City.
Police said the car was spotted by officers about 2:30 a.m. Friday. The driver refused to pull over, speeding away from police and then crashing into a parked trailer in the area of 1050 West and Learned Avenue (about 50 North).
The 24-year-old driver bailed out of the car and ran from the scene but was found nearby. When he refused to surrender, he was subdued by the K-9 canine officer named Otto.
After treatment at a local hospital for bites, the man was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools, possession of a concealed weapon, hit and run and fleeing police.
