The Weber State women's basketball team broke its 48-game losing streak Friday by scoring the most lopsided victory in school history, defeating Walla Walla 107-25.
Junior transfer Zakkiyah Shahid-Martin and Deeshyra Thomas each scored 17 points, and Jalen Carpenter tallied 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Wildcats outclassed the NAIA opponent in the season-opener.
The 82-point victory margin broke the school record of 57 points against Southern Utah in 1982.
The Wildcats' losing streak dated back to the 2011-12 season.
Weber State scored 28 fast-break points while not allowing any.
BYU 81, South Dakota State 53 • In Provo, Lexi Eaton and Kim Beeston scored 18 points each, and Jennifer Hamson added 13 points and 10 rebounds as the Cougars dominated the Jackrabbits. South Dakota State led 16-14 midway through the first half before BYU went on a 19-3 run and eventually opened up a 41-25 halftime lead.
Nevada 79, Utah Valley 67 • In Orem, UVU's Katie Kuklok scored 24 points, and the game was tied 37-37 at halftime before Nevada pulled away for the win.
Southern Utah 90, Boise State 86 • In Boise, Idaho, Desiree Jackson scored 17 points to lead the Thunderbirds to the win.

Southern Utah 85, Arizona Christian 78 • In Cedar City, A.J. Hess scored 17 points to lead the Thunderbirds to the win.
Cross-country
In Lewiston, Idaho, Westminster's Oliver Lange finished in third place at the Frontier Conference Championships, covering the 8K course in a school-record 24 minutes, 54 seconds and earning a second straight trip to the NAIA nationals. The Westminster men finished sixth in the team standings, while the Westminster women finished fifth.
Men's soccer
Rocky Mountain 4, Westminster 3 • In Billings, Mont., the Griffins' season ended with the loss in the Unaffiliated Conference Tournament. Ryan Smith scored two goals for Westminster.
Volleyball
Montana State 3, Weber State 0 • In Bozeman, Mont., Rebecca Fuchs led the Wildcats with seven kills in the loss, as the Bobcats won 25-14, 25-23, 25-15.
SLCC 3, Snow 0 • Carol Grasso had 16 kills as the host Bruins won the Region 18 semifinal 25-12, 26-24, 25-20, earning a trip to the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament.
