COLLEGE BASKETBALL • Indiana State University officials unveiled a bronze statue Saturday of the legend they call the most famous alum of the school in Terre Haute, Ind.
The statue of Larry Bird standing just over 17 feet tall depicts the former Sycamores basketball star wearing an Indiana State jersey and taking a jump shot.
Members of Indiana State's 1979 NCAA national runner-up team, along with several of Bird's Boston Celtics teammates, attended a dedication ceremony outside the Hulman Center, where Indiana State plays its home basketball games and where the statue will greet fans before each game.
