COLLEGE BASKETBALL • Indiana State University officials unveiled a bronze statue Saturday of the legend they call the most famous alum of the school in Terre Haute, Ind.

The statue of Larry Bird — standing just over 17 feet tall — depicts the former Sycamores basketball star wearing an Indiana State jersey and taking a jump shot.

Members of Indiana State's 1979 NCAA national runner-up team, along with several of Bird's Boston Celtics teammates, attended a dedication ceremony outside the Hulman Center, where Indiana State plays its home basketball games and where the statue will greet fans before each game.
