Unified police are looking for a masked man who robbed a Magna gas station early Sunday at gunpoint.

The man walked into the Shell station at 7210 W. 3500 South about 3:23 a.m. He went to the counter, drew a black handgun and demanded money from the clerk, adding that he did not want anyone to get hurt, said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal.

The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the man fled. Though he was last seen running north on foot, a white early 2000s GMC or Chevy pickup truck with a shell was seen leaving the same area at a high rate of speed, Hoyal said. The truck was last seen traveling west on 3500 South.

Police want to talk to the driver and find out whether that person is a potential witness or involved in the robbery.

Investigators describe the robber as a white man in his mid-20s, 6 feet tall and about 145 pounds. He was wearing a dark-colored hoodie and a Halloween mask painted black, Hoyal said.

Anyone with information is asked to call 801-743-7000.
