Semi blocks TRAX rail in West Valley City

A semi-trailer rig blocking a TRAX light rail track in West Valley City caused delays of 10-15 minutes for Green Line commuters Monday morning.

Utah Transit Authority reported the big rig was stuck on the track about 7:35 a.m. at 3500 South and 2700 West. It took about two hours to have the semi removed by a tow truck.

UTA spokesman Remi Barron said the semi had high-centered on a concrete curb near the rail but had not come into contact with any trains.

No injuries were reported.

Commuter trains were detoured around the scene. until the tracks were cleared about 9:45 a.m.
