A Glendale woman died Monday in Iron County after the brakes on the coal truck she was driving apparently failed and the truck rolled mid-turn.

Kaynita Spencer, 47, was driving a semitrailer truck pulling two coal trailers west on State Road 20 about 4:25 p.m., troopers wrote in a press statement. Witnesses reported that the truck appeared to have a problem with its brakes, which were smoking for several miles.

Spencer tried to turn left onto a frontage road west of Interstate 15, when the truck rolled into a pit.

Spencer died at the scene, troopers wrote.
