Salt Lake City police say they have brought a short-lived ATM holdup spree to an end and put the suspect behind bars.
The 37-year-old man was being held without bail Wednesday in the Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of one first-degree felony aggravated robbery and two second-degree robbery counts.
Detective Veronica Montoya said the suspect allegedly robbed a woman at a drive-up ATM near 700 S. State Street about 11 a.m. Tuesday. Heavy-set, wearing khaki pants, a green hooded sweatshirt and a scarf as a mask, the suspect indicated he had a weapon and demanded cash.
The suspect is believed to be the same man who held up another ATM customer at the same location on Tuesday, Montoya said.
About 2 p.m. Tuesday, a police officer spotted a green Honda Element matching the suspect vehicle description on Interstate 15 and pulled the vehicle over near 600 North.
The suspect, listed as a Mexican national, was taken into custody without incident.
