A 21-year-old man was listed in "very serious" condition Wednesday, the day after he leaped from the roof of the downtown Salt Lake City Main Library.

Salt Lake City police say the man was alone on the roof of the complex at 210 E. 400 South about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday when he jumped in an apparent suicide attempt.

He landed in the library's inner courtyard area, and initially was in critical condition when taken to the hospital.

The incident remained under investigation.
