A woman died Wednesday night after falling from Bridal Veil Falls.

The woman who was hiking reportedly was knocked unconscious after falling from the upper falls to the lower falls area, said Utah County sheriff's Lt. Yvette Rice. The woman later came to but had suffered a serious head injury, Rice said. Rescuers were called about 5:30 p.m. but the terrain made it difficult to reach the woman. Meanwhile, temperatures dropped to near-freezing, Rice said. Medical crews had reached the victim as of 9 p.m., Rice said, but dispatchers later confirmed the woman had died.
