You could call it the second coming — at least for Carl Bloch.

Only this time, the Danish painter's works will be joined by those of two other European masters — Heinrich Hofmann and Frans Schwartz — when Brigham Young University's Museum of Art opens a new exhibit Friday called "Sacred Gifts."

The show features 20 religious paintings on loan from churches and museums in Eastern Europe and New York, according to a BYU news release. Many of the works have never been on display in the U.S.

LDS Church-owned BYU in Provo showed Bloch's works in 2010 through 2011, attracting one of the largest audiences in the museum's history.

The new exhibit will run through May 10.
