Why more sanctions on Iran? When will it end? ("New sanctions on Iran could kill nuke deal," Tribune, Nov. 13)

There once was a time when the U.S. and Iran were allies. Even as recently as the beginning of the Iraq and Afghan wars, Iran was willing to work with us.

But we thumbed our noses at Iran and went about attempting to make a difference in our own way. And now we choose to continue to squeeze the life out of Iran and alienate their citizens completely and add to the enemies we have in the Middle East.

Why shouldn't Iran have the same advantage as Pakistan, a country that not only harbors but encourages terrorism and shares nuclear technology with others of our enemies?

Congress needs to talk to someone who knows what's really going on and make some intelligent, informed decisions regarding Iran, decisions that most assuredly would not mean more sanctions.

Can't we please give peace a chance?
