Letter: Preserve Medicare Advantage for seniors

Traditional Medicare helps seniors pay for treatment in a hospital or doctor's office, but it leaves many "holes" in coverage, and people can face significant out-of-pocket expenses. Medicare Advantage has helped many seniors fill these "holes," and we are concerned that during the budget talks, this program might be a target for cuts.

We are very happy with our plan and do not want to lose any of our benefits or have higher premiums and copays, but this is likely with more cuts. Washington always seems to want to reduce seniors' medical benefits.

If our legislators would give up their health insurance plans and live on Medicare, like many of their senior constituents, perhaps they would see how difficult it is to get all of their health care needs met through regular Medicare!

It is high time that Congress truly represent the people who elected them. Senior citizens have worked hard and contributed all their lives for what little retirement benefits are given back. We need Medicare Advantage to remain well-funded and accessible to those of us who want and deserve an additional health care option.
