Utah State football: Aggies shut out Rams for fourth straight win

Logan • While Utah State's offense did just enough to win Saturday, the defense left the biggest impression on the scoreboard.

Zero.

The Aggies (7-4, 6-1) shut out Colorado State in a 13-0 win, the first time for the program in 10 years. Smothering one of the most potent running backs in the nation, big defensive stops and solid special teams play gave Utah State enough to work with to pull out its fourth straight victory.

The Rams entered the game as the No. 24-ranked offense in the country, but were held to only 190 yards. When CSU quarterback Garrett Grayson wasn't off target, he was under attack: The Aggies sacked him four times. Brothers Nick Vigil and Zach Vigil also each got a pick for Utah State.

On offense, things weren't pretty for the Aggies, but Joey DeMartino boosted them in the run game. The senior running back finished with 127 yards and the game's only touchdown.
