Utah Crowd-Funding: Help Brewvies go digital

This week's Utah Crowd-Funding project involves a night out at the movies — and something to drink, too.

The Cricket has discussed in the past the plight of independent movie theaters, which must convert their projectors from 35mm film to digital in the next year or so — because fewer studios are making their movies available on film.

Brewvies Cinema Pub, at 667 S. 200 West in Salt Lake City, is in the same boat, and has taken to Kickstarter to fund new digital projectors.

Brewvies is seeking $70,000 in its current Kickstarter campaign, and so far has received $16,335 in pledges — or about 23 percent of the goal. The fundraiser's deadline is Dec. 14.

Donors can get everything from a "Clockwork Orange"-inspired sticker (for $6) to getting your name printed on a "Brewvies Family" poster that will be displayed forever in the theater's bar area (for $500).
