W. Salt Lake City hit-run victim has died

A 73-year-old man died Tuesday, a day after he was run down by a hit-and-run driver while walking in a southwest Salt Lake City street.

Genaro Zaragoza-Valencia died from injuries suffered Monday night, Salt Lake City police reported Tuesday.

Zaragoza-Valencia was walking just before 7 p.m. Monday on 1000 West near 1700 South when a southbound silver mid-size sedan struck him, police have said. He was tossed about 75 feet in the air before landing on the asphalt.

The car, believed to have front end and windshield damage, sped from the scene.
