Police have identified a man who was fatally struck by a car on a dark and busy Pleasant View road over the weekend.

Pleasant View Police Chief D. Scott Jackson said Eric James Johannes, 46, of Ogden, died on Sunday of injuries he sustained Saturday night when he was hit by a car as he attempted to cross 2700 North near 600 West.

"This all is still under investigation, but our witness statements and evidence are pointing toward no charges being filed against the driver at this time," Jackson said.

Police believe Johannes was intoxicated when he attempted to cross the street, not far from a crosswalk at a nearby traffic signal-controlled intersection.

Several cars reportedly barely missed Johannes before he was hit.
