It looks like Scofield Reservoir is sticking to its long-held tradition of capping with ice on Thanksgiving weekend.

Calvin Black, a fisheries biologist in the Utah Division of Wildlife's southeastern region, was kind enough to provide an update on ice conditions on popular waters in his area late Tuesday afternoon. Great information to have as we head into the holiday weekend and get ice fishing season underway in Utah.

I did the tour of the waters on the Skyline Drive and have an ice report for anglers for this holiday weekend. If you have time and don't mind would you post this on your blog.Tuesday Nov. 26thScofield Reservoir had 1/4"-1/2" ice on almost the entire lake. There is still open water near the dam, which is still fishable from the shore. There is a possibility that the reservoir will be completely ice capped by this weekend, but could be unsafe. Electric Lake is still completely open with no ice.Boulger and Bench's Ponds both are covered with ice and is 3"-4" thick.Huntington (Mammoth) Reservoir is completely covered with ice. There is 4"-5" of ice near the dam. A few anglers have already tested the conditions and drilled a few holes.Cleveland Reservoir is covered with ice with one small open patch of water near the west shoreline. Ice thickness is 2"-3" and most likely will be thicker by weekend.
