Police on Wednesday asked the public for help in finding a vehicle believed to be involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident in downtown Salt Lake City earlier this week.
Salt Lake City police Detective Dennis McGowan said the car that hit 73-year-old Genaro Zaragoza-Valencia Monday night is believed to have been a silver 2002-2003 BMW model 3 Series, either a two-door couple or a convertible.
McGowan said the vehicle description was partially based on evidence gathered from the accident scene.
Zaragoza-Valencia died of his injuries at the hospital on Tuesday.
Police said he was walking just before 7 p.m. Monday on 1000 West near 1700 South when hit. The force of the impact propelled him about 75 feet in the air before he crumpled to the asphalt.
The car, believed to have damage to the front end and windshield, sped from the scene.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 801-799-3000.
