Here's the Utah Highway Patrol's suggestion to avoid getting your giblets in an uproar this Thanksgiving: buckle up, slow down and be especially aware of other drivers' actions.
UHP troopers will be out in force over the holiday weekend ahead, and they warn that they will be especially hard-nosed about enforcing speed limits, safe lane changes and seat belt laws.
Seat belt use has been on the rise over the past year, with UHP driver surveys showing that 89 percent are buckling up, as the law requires. Still, an estimated 300,000 motorists aren't fastening their restraints.
"Fastening a seat belt takes only a second or two and costs you nothing. Not wearing a seat belt, especially during this Thanksgiving period will cost you a ticket at the very least and maybe even your life.," Utah Highway Patrol Colonel Daniel Fuhr stated.
Indeed, if you are involved a crash without your seat belt properly secured, statistics show you are more than 30 times more likely to die.
