The Islamic Society of Greater Salt Lake City is urging Utahns to donate to its Philippine typhoon relief efforts.

Financial contributions will be matched by an anonymous donor, who is part of the Muslim community, up to $100,000. All contributions will be donated to LDS Humanitarian Services for use in responding to immediate needs in the hardest hit areas of the Philippines, which were devastated by Typhoon Haiyan.

Haiyan caused thousands of deaths and left an enormous number of destitute survivors in its wake.

Donations are being accepted at any Zions Bank under the Islamic Society of Greater Salt Lake Donation account or people can go to www.utahmuslims.com to donate online.
