Utah Highway Patrol says a fatal accident occurred about 3:10 p.m. Thursday near the mouth of Parleys Canyon.

Steven T. Parker, 46, died after veering his 2005 black Cadillac Escalade SUV off northbound I-215 East by the ramp to take I-80 east. The vehicle went up an embankment, vaulted over the bridge at 3000 South and hit a light pole before landing on the northside embankment of westbound I-80 and catching on fire.

He was the lone occupant of the vehicle and no other cars are believed to have been involved in the crash. Police did not know for sure Thursday night where Parker was residing, but they did say that he had recently lived in South Ogden.

UHP Sgt. Todd Royce says that northbound Interstate 215 to eastbound Interstate 80, westbound I-80 to southbound I-215 and westbound I-80 to northbound I-215 were closed near the scene. By 6:40 p.m., all three ramps were again open.
