Nine people critically injured in two-car crash near Wellington

A two-vehicle crash on State Road 6 near Wellington left nine people critically injured Saturday, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.

At 5:04 p.m., a Chevrolet truck was traveling westbound on SR 6 at mile marker 258 in Carbon County — about 11 miles east of Wellington — when one of the tires on the truck separated, the UHP reported.

The truck veered to the right, then back to the left into eastbound traffic, where it was T-boned by an oncoming Nissan Pathfinder.

The occupants in the truck­ — two adults and three children from Price ­— were taken to a hospital in critical condition, the UHP reported.

The identities of the victims and updated conditions were not available late Saturday.
