A 17-year-old male was in fair condition Saturday night after being shot during an apparent home-invasion burglary at a home in Kearns.

Unified Police said the teen called police dispatch about 7:40 p.m. to report two men, at least one of whom had a gun, were inside his home near 5300 South and Leprechaun Lane (5280 West). The call was disconnected, but the teen called a second time and said he had been shot, according to UPD spokesman Justin Hoyal.

Hoyal said the teen told police he had exchanged gun fire with the two men before they fled. A search of the neighborhood with police dogs turned up nothing.

Hoyal said the suspects were described by the teen as African American, one wearing black pants and the other blue pants. One man was wearing a knit hat or ski mask.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Unified Police Department at 801-743-7000.
