Unified Police detectives were hoping Wednesday that newly released images from a security camera may generate tips leading to the arrest of a Taylorsville bank robber.

The suspect, described as a thin 5-foot-11 white man, with a tattoo or birthmark on his left hand and wearing a black mask, light blue pants and a gray hooded sweat shirt — walked into the U.S. Bank branch at 4135 S. Redwood Road at 9:36 a.m. on Tuesday.

"The suspect ... stated, `This is a robbery,' and then demanded money. The suspect jumped over the counter, had the teller open the cash drawer and he took the money out of the drawer," UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal said.

The suspect fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Hoyal said the man did not display a weapon during the holdup and no one was hurt.

A subsequent search of the area failed to turn up the suspect.
