Letter: Get insurance companies out of health care

Now that this Kafkaesque labyrinth called Obamacare is unveiled, are you realizing health care is not health insurance?

HR676 has been floating around the halls of Congress for more than 10 years. Also known as Medicare for All, it would create a simple system that enables every U.S. citizen easy and free access to quality health care for life regardless of income level in a simple and easily understandable manner.

Whereas Obamacare was designed by the insurance industry to keep them as the middle men taking their cuts from your premiums, HR676 erases them from the picture. Even expanded to cover payments 100 percent and to include dental and other medical life aids (as it should) HR676 would be far cheaper and efficient than this system that prioritizes corporate profit margins above you and your family's well-being. Ask yourselves; Is this the kind of health care system you morally support?

The debate should have been about access to health care, not broader insurance coverage; they are not equivalent! The slogan on my 4-year-old T-shirt, "Hey, Obama, I Wanted Health Care not Health Insurance!" is still relevant today.
