An auto-pedestrian crash Friday morning in Taylorsville left a woman in extremely critical condition and her dog dead.
Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said the collision was reported at 1115 W. Meadowbrook Expressway (3920 S.) at 8:38 a.m.
There is no crosswalk at the accident scene, Hoyal said, and witnesses told police that the 20-year-old woman was walking her large-breed dog and pushing a stroller loaded with personal items when she suddenly stepped into the path of an oncoming Ford Taurus.
Hoyal said she apparently was attempting to cross the street from south to the north.
"We don't know if she just didn't see the car approaching or what the circumstances were," Hoyal said.
The victim's identity was not immediately released.
The investigation was ongoing.
