An early Wednesday morning fire destroyed a home in the Box Elder community of Bothwell and sent the woman living there to the hospital.

Box Elder County public safety dispatchers confirmed the blaze was reported about 3:30 a.m. at the rural residence near 12700 North and 11000 West. A 62-year-old woman, believed the only resident, suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to Bear River Valley Hospital, but she was expected to be fine.

Crews from the Thatcher-Penrose Fire Department fought the blaze, but the home could not be saved.

Initial indications were that the fire began in the home's garage, but the cause remained under investigation.
